with Competitive Wagons/Carts
Many consumers have contacted us, asking us how our fold flat, compact wagons and carts compared to other carts and wagon products on the market. This comparison and contrast FAQ page will hopefully assist consumers in making decisions about our world's thinnest wagons/cart products (protected by multiple U.S. patents, with international patents also pending) compared to competitive products.
Pancake folding wheel wagons/carts compared to convertible handtruck products-
As can be seen on this website, the Pancake folding wheel merely requires the user to press up on the wheel assembly case to release the tire of the fold flat cart or wagon. A hidden spring then pivots the wheel inside the Pancake collapsible wagon or carts.
The Pancake folding wagons and carts have a base which is horizontal to the ground. On the other hand, many of the convertible handtruck type products (such as hand trucks that can be pulled vertical to the ground or convert to have four wheels on the ground), have various deficiencies. Obviously, typical multiple pieces of cargo cannot be moved easily with a vertical handtruck, which would require a bungee cord to maintain various items of cargo in a nearly vertical position as the handtruck is pulled. Secondly, when a handtruck is converted to a flat bed type position, there is generally no enclosed wagon bed to hold multiple products in.
Pancake folding wheel wagons/carts compared to several flatbed trolleys/carts-
There are several products in the marketplace which feature a totally flat cart base, and a U shaped handle. In most of these products the 4 cart wheels do not fold, but a handle does fold. Generally, these competitive products do not have cart/wagon upright walls to hold cargo inside. Also the Pancake folding wagon and cart products have a lip or wall all the way around the wagon or cart edge to allow use of the typical bungee cord if needed.
There is a product also known as the “EZ does it cart ( “EZdoesitcart” ) which is technically a wagon because it has four wheels. The EZ does it cart features a removable wagon like base. This product has good applications, but note that this base is a fairly lightweight plastic and is not as strong as the Pancake designed plastic folding wagon base. The easy does it cart does not include any folding wheels, and even without the removable base added, the thinnest profile of the easy does it cart is 10 inches. The Pancake fold flat wagon is completely folded at 8 inches in profile and of course there are no removable parts to lose. The easy does it cart features what appears to be a hollow plastic wheel design, and the Pancake fold flat wagon features a more standard spoked plastic tire, with special "no flat" cushioned rubber tread design. Last, the Pancake fold up wagon is designed to hang on the wall hook or nail, occupying 8 inches thin space against the wall, or easily fits in a car trunk.
There is another cart/wagon product with small wheels and a totally flat cart base, which features wheels that will fold under the cart base. The folding process for the tires is a bit more complicated than the simple Pancake folding wheel fold system. Generally, a metal pan must be pulled or removed, and the small wheel is folded under the base, and then the pin must be replaced into a small hole. First, this small wheel for this type of cart is much better for only inside applications, on a flat surface. The Pancake folding wagon has been designed to travel over many surfaces and not just a flat surface, using a 7 1/2 inch tire with a cushioned rubber tread including a "no flat" design of the tire.
Pancake fold flat wagons compared to traditional plastic/metal wagons-
Radio Flyer, Little Tikes, Kettler, Safety first, and other wagon distributors generally offer a wagon with a standard non-folding wheel or tire. Accordingly, the stowed or folded profile of these standard wagons is usually the size of the tire together with the wall size of the wagon at the least. None of the standard wagons have the patent protected wagon handle designed by Pancake wheel, which includes multiple handle positions and a handle that folds flat right inside the wagon or cart base. The Pancake folding wagon in plastic, in a one-piece base, folds to 8 inches thin, a far more compact stowed profile than any other standard wagon.
There is also a very large metal mesh wagon/cart that is sold for lawn and garden or other applications-these are very heavy in weight and very cumbersome. These are not easily portable products. Some of these big metal wagons and carts do include a folding wall design on the four metal walls, however, the consumer needs to carefully look at the weight of this big metal wagons/cart, and think about versatility issues. It is very impractical to hang this very heavy metal cart/wagon on the wall, and it does not include anything approaching the 8 inch been folded profile of the Pancake plastic folding wagons. It is impractical to ever think of putting this big metal lawn and garden cart in a trunk of a car. If you have a large yard and no space problems, and do not care about versatility, then the big metal lawn and garden carts might suit you. Note that Pancake wheel offers a folding wagon in a totally metal design that folds to 8 inches thin as well.
